This month we shine the spotlight on Matthew who joined us in October 2021. He’s a very capable addition to the team and brings valuable experience and technical skills – Qube knowledge in particular – to our management structure. He offers a fresh perspective to the business, with an insightful understanding of what both freeholders and leaseholders want.
Before MIH, I had been working for the largest freehold managing agent in the UK for 14 years. During this time, I was involved in overseeing a number of departments, including Property Management, Acquisitions and Debt recovery. I was also heavily involved in refinancing projects, looking at market trends and future capital over a number of years.
I wanted to be involved in development of a company that had a similar set of ethics to myself, by doing what was right by the client, working together for the best solution and trying to keep the human element in Property management.
When looking at other companies, they seemed to want to keep all contact to a minimum or just give extended timeframes for a response via an automated reply.

In property management it is mostly about trying to ensure that the services are amply provided, along with value for money, during a cost of living crisis. Also, with the introduction of the Building Safety Act next year, we need to consider the best way to advise and assist our clients so that they are fully compliant – that’s a priority for 2023.
I always try my best to listen to what is needed and then be both creative and practical using my experience, to find a way to make it work. I feel there is a strong and clear vision from the senior team on where the company is going and maintaining MIH’s core values, and I will support that vision as much as I can.
I am looking at ways to improve the service we provide to our clients. Whether that be in more detailed reporting or introducing the tenant portal to provide information. Internally, I want to help the Property Managers and Assistants by reviewing processes so they can concentrate on maintaining the buildings and providing quality customer service.

The variation. There will be a new challenge almost every day and I enjoy trying to find a solution. I also enjoy the people I get to work with and to learn new things from.
