The Notting Hill Carnival is set to return this coming Bank Holiday weekend, 24th – 26th August 2024.
The Notting Hill Carnival is a vibrant celebration that fills the streets of West London every August, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean. What started as a small gathering in 1966 to foster community cohesion has now grown into Europe’s largest street festival. For two days, the normally tranquil and upscale Notting Hill neighborhood transforms into a pulsating hub of music, dance, and color.
For residents, it is an event that requires both patience and adaptation, but it also offers a unique opportunity to experience a world-class festival from their doorstep.
While the noise, crowds, and disruptions can be overwhelming, the carnival also brings an undeniable vibrancy to the area. It’s a reminder of the resilience of the community and a celebration of culture that has, over the years, become synonymous with Notting Hill itself.

To facilitate the Carnival, roads will be closed, so make sure your au-fait with the plan as they are strict and enforced – even if you are a resident.
Only carnival floats, pre-authorised event vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed into the area.
For residents who embrace the carnival spirit, it is a time to celebrate diversity, enjoy world-class entertainment on their doorstep, and witness the multicultural fabric of London at its best. Many local families have long-standing traditions of participating in the festivities, from joining in the parades to hosting friends and family for private gatherings.
Whatever your approach, we have come across a whole range of creative and rather interesting solutions to tackling, and indeed engaging, the onslaught of visitors*:
Whatever your carnival ‘style’, we hope you enjoy the weekend and the vibrancy and vitality of this wonderful cultural phenomenon.
*As always, if you’re a tenant do check out the terms of your lease, and be sure to treat your property with respect.
